About
Neobarok is a free digital sculpting software aimed at artists and users of all levels. Inspired by the Baroque artistic style, known for its rich and complex design, Neobarok is a tool for the rapid creation of characters, robots and structures, artistic sculptures, abstract shapes.
In Neobarok you can sculpt individual objects by mixing sketch, clay, CAD, and image techniques and further assemble and articulate those objects in complex hierarchies.
Designs can be enhanced with real-time visual effects and numerous materials. The creator and main developer behind the project is computer scientist and artist Lucian Stănculescu. In 2013 he received his PhD in Computer Graphics from Université de Lyon, France, where he worked on models for digital sculpting, such as Freestyle. Neobarok represents the culmination of more than 15 years of work in both 3d graphics programming and art.

Not yet, first there will be a crowd-funding campaign and only after I’ll be able to release it. Follow the updates here or on facebook for all the important dates.

It looks cool, nice to see new sculpt software out there… Will it run natively under linux?

It is developed in Qt Creator which compiles under Win, Linux and Mac – so yes, there will be a Linux version too.

Hi, your software looks very nice. I’m looking forward to test neobarok. I’m using meshmixer and sculptris, but your software looks nicer than the others. Do you can mail me when there’s a release date of it?
Thanks ;)

Neobarok is to be released by the end of this year. In the meantime you can find updates here or on the official facebook page. Right now the work is mostly concentrated on simplifying interaction, and complex examples will follow. So stay tuned :)

Wow , the app looks really great , but for slow learners like me It would really be great to have some documentation or beginners videos. Also I get some flicker of the screen when switching tools or views…

I’ll post tutorials after the holiday break, and the interface will also change in upcoming versions – this is a prototype, with a functional – not easy – interface !

Hi,
Did you stop developing Neobarok? Your site is down…

Hey,
Thanks for letting me know, the site is up now, I just forgot to renew my annual subscription.
Development continues, finished a few things for Neobarok 2.0. The full release will be next year (February), but there will be an intermediate release only on the sculpting part (without PBR materials). This will be useful for 3D printing and will also be faster.
Also checking the possibility to port to mobile devices (the sculpting part should be ok, and PBR maybe with some tweaking).
